Follow YOUR Dream!

I am a proponent of not existing but living, but also appreciating the talents of others which I cannot find in myself. It is not hard to find excellence and passion if one takes the time to look around for it. On a regular basis I find the quality or potential in most everyone I encounter, even if they don’t recognize their excellence and virtue. Several years ago I can across a young woman with so much potential it was startling. Her name was Brianna McCarthy, the embodiment of talent and feminine and strength. What more is there to day except the short interview I had with her.

Check out her Art Her Passion.

Emmitt Muckles:Tell me what inspires you in your art?
Brianna McCarthy: I do a lot of work that focuses on our relationship with technology and the idea of us eventually merging with it completely: the inorganic and organic being fused.

Emmitt Muckles: What was the thought process behind your creation?

Brianna McCarthy: Thinking, in our digital world, at what point aren’t we human anymore? Will we all have “mods” one day (hello Johnny Mnemonic…and most sci-fi films)? This often leads me to robots and cyborgs (naturally). The imagery of wires and circuit boards and all that techie stuff is really appealing to me alongside the human form.

Emmitt Muckles: Where do you envision your art being on public display?

Brianna McCarthy: I was actually browsing through the shirts on threadless.com when the thought crept in that I wanted a robot shirt (I have this thought fairly regularly).

Emmitt Muckles: I know from experience and idea is just a starting point, then other external ideas add to the process, did you experience such a situation. It seem you took a little inspiration as did Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Madonna and a host of other women artist from the movie Metropolis with the character Maschinenmensch.

Brianna McCarthy : Having looked through a number of art history books that week, robot venus jumped into my head. I’m a Botticelli fan and “the birth of Venus” illustrates the birth/creation of a being who was also a symbol of creation (goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility…). It was the right piece to be mechanized because of the themes of creation and birth. Eventually assembly and birth could be very similar concept for the human race.

Emmitt Muckles: What is next in your creative Mind?

Brianna McCarthy: Oh, and I have been itching to do something in an art nouveau style

Emmitt Muckles: What is the physical process for your creation?

Brianna McCarthy: Technique? I sketched her out, scanned her into the computer, then inked and colored her in adobe illustrator and photoshop.
